Why Haven Was Created
It was 3:00 a.m., and Britt Riley was wide awake, nursing her infant, Zoe, while trying to get her toddler, Harper, back to sleep. As she balanced both, she found herself grappling with a deeper question: how to navigate motherhood in a way that aligned with her core values.
One thought kept resurfacing: Where was the village?
Through her experience with Harper, Britt had come to realize that the American childcare system was broken. Dropping her child off at the door without connection to other parents felt isolating. While Harper attended one of the best childcare programs in the community, something essential was missing.
Each workday brought a familiar sense of guilt, as if she were watching her children grow up from a distance. Evenings became a race against the clock, trying to fit an entire day’s worth of errands into the brief window before pickup. Over time, her well-being suffered.
Britt knew this was no way to live. But in 2018, a better solution didn’t exist. So, she set out to build one.
Building a New Model for Childcare
Those late-night nursing sessions soon became moments of clarity. While caring for Zoe, Britt began envisioning what a true “Haven” for modern families could be: fully licensed childcare, shared and private workspaces, and in-house fitness studio—all under one roof, through one door, with one membership.
It would be a club.
A third space.
A safe haven for children and caregivers to become the best versions of themselves.
Two years later, fueled by perseverance and blind trust, Britt and her co-founder, Morgan Everson, opened Haven’s first club in Rhode Island called The Coggeshall Club.
From One Club to a Growing Community
Shortly after opening the first location, Haven expanded to second and third clubs and began building a growing leadership team, welcoming key leaders such as Christy Johnson and John Collins.
As Haven continues to grow through its franchise model, the brand is reshaping childcare and addressing a broken system in real time.
Each Haven club is designed to be a local treasure, led by familiar faces within the community. Behind every local leader stands a larger, experienced team offering guidance, support, and care—working together to ensure that every community can have its own little nugget of hope.
